What is it?Just:: Health PR is offering three charities the chance to each receive up to £50,000 worth of pro bono public relations and communications work in support of a specific project.
Who can apply? The pro bono grants will be made to charities registered with the Charity Commission. To apply, a charity must be registered and based in the UK but may have an international outreach. There is no requirement that an applicant should have been a client of Just:: Health PR in the past, or that it should become one in the future: there are no financial obligations on winners other than those stated in clause 12.
How to enter. Please complete the application form online at www.ajustcause.org.uk. All entries must be authorised by the Chief Executive of the charity making the application, and the applications themselves must be for projects that are within the applicant’s authorised remit of operation.
Start date. The competition will open on 16th August 2010.
Closing date. The closing date for applications is 8th October 2010 at 5.00 p.m.
Promoter. The promoter of this competition is Just Health Public Relations Limited (“Just:: Health PR”), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 05678111, whose registered office is at 20-21 Clinton Place, Seaford, East Sussex BN25 1NP.
Shortlist process. The panel of judges (which is available on request, and which includes at least one person independent of the promoter and its intermediaries) will draw up a shortlist of three charities in each of the following categories: 1) ‘Mind’ – covering projects focused on mental health and wellbeing; 2) 'Body' – covering projects focused on physical health and wellbeing; 3) ‘Society’ – covering projects focused on health issues with societal impact or involving societal issues. The shortlist will be based on the panel’s assessment of the merit of all applicants’ projects, taking into account the following criteria:
the genuine necessity of each applicant’s proposed project;
the potential for the project to instigate real and beneficial change;
the conceptual and creative strength of the proposed project;
the potential for the parties to work well together while the prize is being delivered, so as to maximise the effectiveness of the grant;
the viability for the project to be delivered within the constraints of the prize grant.
Notification of shortlisted finalists. All successful shortlisted entrants will be contacted by post, phone or email by 5.00 p.m. on 18th October 2010 to confirm their progression to the next stage.
Pitch day. The nine shortlisted finalists will be invited to pitch to the panel of judges on 11th November 2010. Unfortunately, the pitch date is not flexible. Each applicant should therefore ensure that its team is available on this day. On the day each shortlisted applicant’s project will be subjected to further scrutiny by the panel, and the applicants will be questioned about their projects. Following the pitch, the panel will score the shortlisted applicants, and will award the prizes to the highest-scoring shortlisted entrant in each category.
Winners. The winners will be notified by post, phone or email by 5.00 p.m. on 15th November 2010. The names of the winners will be announced on the website www.ajustcause.org.uk later in the same week.
The prizes. The three winners will each receive up to £50,000 worth of pro bono public relations and communications work from Just:: Health PR (based on a daily rate of £1,000) in respect of the project that was pitched. The exact amount of the prize will be calculated by the panel of judges, based on its judgment of the level of work required for the project, and may be less than £50,000 if the panel of judges believes that a lesser amount of pro bono work is required. There is no cash alternative to the prize grants, which are not transferable and which may be used solely for the project that was pitched. A prize may be withheld if a winner is subsequently found not to have met the criteria set out in these terms and conditions. Each winner will be required to sign an agreement with Just:: Health PR, which shall relate solely to the pro bono work that Just:: Health PR will be carrying out for the winner and will not commit the winner to any further working or financial obligations outside those stated in these Terms and Conditions.
Costs. The application process is free, save that applicants will be required to meet the costs of attending the pitch. The prize grants are likewise free, save that the winners will be required to meet any third-party expense costs incurred in the performance of the pro bono work.
Delivery. The prize grants will be delivered during the calendar year 2011.
Acceptance by Entrants. By entering, applicants accept these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them. The judges’ decisions shall be final. Copyright in applications shall remain with the applicants, but by entering, all applicants consent to Just:: Health PR’s use of, and right to publish, their names, photographs, and any videos and other audio-visual or written material and documents submitted by the applicant, for Just:: Health PR’s publicity, promotional or news purposes (including use in printed publications, in editorial and PR activities, and on internal and external websites) related to this initiative. However, any such use by Just:: Health PR shall be entirely within Just:: Health PR’s discretion, and Just:: Health PR shall be under no obligation to use such material, documents or information. The winners hereby consent, if requested, to provide a quote in respect of this competition, and to appear in a publicity photograph.
Limitation of Liability. The promoter will not be responsible for entries that are lost, corrupted or delayed, or which otherwise fail to be received for any reason. Just:: Health PR will not return any supplementary materials sent in by entrants. In delivering the prize grants, Just:: Health PR will use reasonable endeavours to provide work of a suitable standard, but shall have no liability for the quality of work performed or for its outcome, save where limitation is forbidden by law.
